PAUL NASCHY - THE CAM CONNECTION

Was Ennio Morricone's music ever used in a Paul Naschy film?

The answer is YES!!!

And not only was Morricone's music used, but some of Italy's top film composers contributed to the films of Paul Naschy....

CAM, the Italian movie soundtrack publishing and recording company, representing such composers as Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone, has one of most prominent film music libraries in the world. On occasion grade "B" movies made in Europe rented music from CAM's library, instead of seeking original music for their productions. This resulted in some notable cuts being re-used for a variety of films, including certain Paul Naschy movies. We cannot tell you how excited we were upon hearing Ennio Morricone's thrilling cues used in such Naschy classics as HUMAN BEASTS and LATIDOS DE PANICO upon first watching these films. We here at THE MARK OF NASCHY have been searching out these original cuts and have formulated the list below, a list which is continually growing. An album of these cuts would be astounding, assembling as it would some of Italy's most renowned film music composers, people like the aforementioned Morricone, and Bruno Nicolai, Stelvio Cipriani, Piero Piccioni, and many more, to be represented by some of their most flavorful sounds.

Note: All of the above films have other CAM music still to be identified

Other Naschy films using CAM music that we have not yet identified:

UNA LIBELULA PARA CADA MUERTO/A DRAGONFLY FOR EACH CORPSE; (the main theme, sounding very much like the work of Ennio Morricone, with the voice of Morricone regular Edda Dell 'Orso, was also used in a chase sequence in LA CARNAVAL DE LAS BESTIAS/HUMAN BEASTS)

LA VENGANZA DE LA MOMIA/THE VEGEANCE OF THE MUMMY

LA MALDICION DE LA BESTIA/NIGHT OF THE HOWLING BEAST (U.S. release title)

MUERTE DE UN PRESIDENTE (aka COMANDO TXIQUIA)

LA BESTIA Y LA ESPADA MAGICA/THE BEAST AND THE MAGIC SWORD (both this film and MUERTE DE UN PRESIDENTE  use the same frequent, and as yet unidentified, cue throughout)

And there could be others!
